The Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery (IDHS/SUPR) is pleased to offer an online version for the Gambling Disorder Four-Day Core Training free of charge for all counselors and therapists who want to increase their skill and knowledge in assessing and treating problem gambling and gambling disorder during these travel-restricted COVID-19 pandemic times.
This online training will provide participants with a strong clinical base from which to deliver gambling disorder treatment services. The course curriculum covers assessing, case planning, case management, monitoring, counseling and advocacy. Through this special online training, participants may earn up to 24 hours of continuing education units to be applied towards the Problem and Compulsive Gambling Certification (PCGC). It is also intended to prepare counselors for the Illinois PCGC examination administered by the Illinois Certification Board.
Please note that each day is divided into two three hour sessions with a fifteen minute break half-way through each session. An entire course encompasses eight sessions and Illinois PCGC candidates may use the one hour CEU credits from any of the gambling webinars offered on this site to meet the full thirty hour educational requirement for the Illinois PCGC.
Zoom links and further instructions will be provided upon successful completion of registering for a workshop. Please note that seating is very limited due to the new online platform, so we ask that all registrants schedule accordingly to attend all eight sessions. If you have any questions regarding registration or attending any of these sessions, please contact Robby Fuqua at [email protected] or call at 773-984-4818.
REGISTRATION FOR THIS WORKSHOP IS CLOSED.
